Affections

Was having a conversation with Bro Kel this morning...to afternoon. And this topic came up.

Those who know me well enough will probably know I'm an affectionate person...
No that doesn't sound correct. More like I'm a person who likes & enjoys physical affection?

I'm a "touch" person. Physical touch.
And when it comes with spontaneity, it adds up to be all the more magical ain't it?
  • caress my hair
  • give me a surprise hug
  • brush my cheek
  • kiss my ear
  • touch my arm
  • play with my fingers
  • kiss my forehead
  • whisper something to me that only I can understand
  • steal a kiss from me when no one's looking
  • stroke my palm
  • tap my thigh
  • nibble my lips
  • blow me a smooch
  • drape your arm around me

Sometimes yearning doesn't bring you what you want.
Sometimes taking the initiative might not bring you what you need too.

Blaaayyyy-ding

I have finally signed up for blading classes.
The only sucky thing now is...How am I gonna find an excuse to go out of the house every Sunday now?

The two old folks are very very against blading and I do not wish to repeat the huge confrontation we had in 2006 over the subject of blading...

Sigh oh well.
See how it goes...

$88 a month unlimited sessions. Inline Culture.
At both Pasir Ris & ECP.

Of Gifts and Pressies

Hmm..85% of the gifts I received this year were cosmetics/body care/facial care products...
  • 1 body lotion from O2
  • 1 liquid eyeliner from dunno where..
  • 1 mascara from Maybelline
  • 1 body wash from Bath & BodyWorks
  • 1 box of Kose face masks
  • 1 face moisturiser from Biotherm
  • 1 box of 6 mini fragrances from Bodyshop
  • 2 nail polish from O2
  • 3 eyeshadows, 2 from Clinique, 1 from Bodyshop

Hmmmm...
I hope this does not signify anything...
Have I been vain? Or have I been quite clueless about things that people decided to give me lotsa such stuff? ahha...

The Two Logs

They met on a day when the woodcutter yelled "Timber".
So different and so alike in so many ways.
They became good friends.
"One heart, one soul!" They exclaimed.

They set off on a journey together.
Off into the high seas, floating towards the horizon, bobbing.
Bark against bark, skin against skin, length against length.
"Never apart" They squealed.

Expectant, excited, eager.
Rain and sunshine. Wind and moonlight.
Two logs and one direction.
"What's ahead for us?" They asked.

Days passed. Vestiges of time.
Months passed. Sinews of trudge.
Years passed. Synapses of thought.
"What will become of us?" They silently wondered.

The currents worked. And worked.
Bark no longer against bark, skin no longer against skin, length no longer against length.
Drift. Drift. Drift.
"Don't go!" The first log shouted.

The second log was getting further away.
Bobbing slowly. But still too far away.
Two logs and two directions.
"Don't leave me! We made a promise!" The first log said.

Floating.
Drifting.
Bobbing.
"What will be?" They each silently pondered.
I know not myself anymore.
I know not what to believe in anymore.
I know not what is trust anymore.
I know not anymore.

Monday Evening

Oh it was a lovely time yesterday evening...
Another BBQ session at Ginger's place.

Probably the last one we'll ever have before her place goes enbloc in April next year.

Cosy affair...with the usual peeps..Sashi, Ginger, myself, Lydia & Tricia.

And then voila!! Selin turned up at 8-plus!
Haha, apparently she was to be our "guest star" of the night...
After having MIA-ed for the longest time, she turned up amidst loud gasps and screams from all of us...lol...
Ginger apparently had a "brilliant" idea to keep us all in the dark and let Selin's appearance be a surprise for us all... haha..

Ee Hong didn't manage to turn up though...
(eh, u ok? Hope work is not getting you down yah..and hope your back is doing good...)

Lots of satay, chicken wings, otah and fishballs...

But damn, they are all darn small eaters.
I was the only one still eating, gorging and going strong when they had all stopped and were sipping green tea lol...

An enactment:-
Ginger: Eh, I think I'm full already...
Me: HAR?? I think my engine just got started leh! Wah Lau!!

The usual banter
The usual crappy nonsense from Sashi
The usual whines & complaints
The usual "quarrels" between Sashi & Ginger
The usual roundtable updates from everyone (except Sashi who came late)...

And oh yah, we had an usual guest who joined us last night...
A little brown mole was scavenging around the place...made off with a bite of a fishball which fell to the floor (and was left there... haha...)

Let's hope the next gathering will have full attendance?

p/s: One very PROUD fact = I STARTED THE FIRE!!!! hahahaha...I am now officially the firestarter for future BBQs lol...

I is tired~!!

I went to bed at 3am last night...Woke at 10am this morning...
And was promptly subjected to domestic slavery by the mother.

Scrubbed the floor with chlorox...at least half of the house I think...
Made my poor eyes a little teary...
Wiped the floor after that...

Popped by ECP after lunch...had some chicken wings and then took a very long walk...close to 3km or more...

Sigh long story, we were supposed to go kayaking but we got our directions wrong..
Me, PQ & her ex-colleague Cecilia...
So 3 ladies with no car, we ended up walking..from the chalet area to McDonald's...

Finally we bought a mat and decided to find a spot and just tan there...
But it was a little strange..It was my virgin time tanning at ECP...piangzz...
I mean stripping down to your bikini in front of Malay families was just plain weird...
Anyway, bochup...I plopped myself down and took a nap.....

Lovely seabreeze, lovely sounds of waves hitting the shoreline...
It was 5-plus when we decided to walk on again...and so we trudged.....from McDonald's to the Big Splash area...That was prolly 3km or more again?

Anyhow, plonked ourselves at Old Town and had drinks and snacks...
Took a short walk at a Car Boot Sale that was happening there...
And then parted ways...

Finally reached home...
And had a jog...a slow and steady one...I ran 2.4km today...
And I'm happy about it...A few months back I could only do half of that I think lol...
*beams*

My next run will be on Tuesday evening...Hope to reach my goal before end of the year..
Errr....which leaves me with very little time...Ganbatte...
It was Eugene's wedding dinner last night..:)

Intimate cosy affair at the Grand Plaza Park Hotel...the one behind Peninsula Plaza..
Tables were placed close to each other...I kinda like it this way..More cosy...

Interesting point was that there was oatmeal prawns on the menu lol..

We took lots of pics..am oending receipt of them from PQ.

But errr...as we came to realise later...we didn't take a single photo with the couple using our own camera...hmm mm....;p

===========
I ate alot last night. Alot.

I ate every single dish at the wedding. And finished the carbo dish (which happened to be fried mee sua) as well.

When me, TH & PQ adjourned to Timbre later on...I had pizza there...lol.

I think my tummy's decided to exact some form of revenge after I subjected it to a fish, macaroni and porridge diet during that bout of "stomach spoil" episode 2 weeks ago...

And ate alot today again..hmm mm...;p

Which reminds me, I'm still hungry after that big bowl of bee tai bak at 8pm...
Hmm mm...shall go munch on some cereal...:)

============
It was nice at Timbre yesterday...
Nice songs, lovely music...

And there was a cool breeze throughout the night...we went mad taking pics...of ourselves, of the food...of the Singapore river...

Oh, I love my friends lol..

And I was good. I didn't take a single drop of alcohol while at Timbre...;p
I ordered a fruit punch...(Ally, proud of me or not??? hahahhaa....)

But the temptation was great man....could only stare at the lychee martini the girl next door ordered haha...grrrr.....

Me & TH each tried to dedicate a song..to no avail....they didn't sing it..maybe we wrote in too late hhaa..He chose "Moon River" and I chose "More Than Words".

My jaw dropped when I saw him write that song down. I absolutely didn't expect that from him man...;p

p/s: Raffles Place and City Hall look gorgeous at 2am in the morning...

My Friday night

Daniel.
My uber buddy, my pal, my gossip kaki, my talk rot friend, my ex-sentosa tanning partner...

This is the second consecutive Friday that I'm hanging out with him cos we both had no dates...
It's like as if we're each other's part-time lovers haha...

He made me wait for him again. For 45 mins...I swear I felt like slaughtering him.

Tonight's meal was at Pasta Fresca at Cuppage Terrace...
They did a good job of revamping the place...:)

Food was good...Salmon pasta and Seafood Pizza...
Service was excellent but the wait for the food was long....

And the starter we ordered was a total rip-off...Sauteed mushrooms...
What came was button mushrooms...a little bunch of them...sitting on a few leaves of lettuce and surrounded by chopped tomatoes...

$12. X-I-A-O.

I think I can make a similar but tastier starter for less than $5 lor...*rolls eyes*

Anyway, total bill came up to $56...

Adjourned to TCC for drinks and dessert thereafter...

Where we sat, daydreaming about business ventures and possible business franchises we could do...Gossiping about other things...Talking about his work...

For the most part, he talked and I listened...I dunno why, I like listening...
Sometimes talking makes my mouth and jaw muscles feel tired lol...

Till the next time me and him meet again..:)

From me to me...

Dear Shell,

Don't think about the what ifs, maybes, could bes, could have beens and whys...
Think about the what is and now is...Focus on the what will be and what you want to do to make it be...

You'll be less confused that way...and I think you will be happier too...

Give it some thought ya. Catch you soon again.

Hugzzz,
Shell

hmmm....

Qu'est-ce que tu me vois comme?
J'ai ete penser depuis quelques jours...
Je ne peut pas t'enleve de ma tete...

Le musique

I think I have a very varied taste in music...

People listen to various genres of music and have their preferred choices...

For me, I think I listen to anything...
Anything which gets through to me at the emotional level...
Anything which gets me grooving and tapping my feet...
And anything which which my heart can feel and my mind can take...

Lol...I was scrolling through my Ipod earlier on...
And I had Chinese, English, Jap, Korean in it...
I had hip hop, soft rock, opera, classical, piano in it...
I also had pop, jazz, rap, retro, instrumental in it...

It's so me...:) So mambo-jambo..
So rojak...A mixture of everything...
A little bit here, a little bit there...:)

The only thing I do not have at the moment is dance...
Trance is not for me yet...but dance is nice...
Soon perhaps...soon my ipod will have those in as well...haha

Il Divo & Music Establishment

I bought Il Divo yesterday. Their 4th album.
Went to Music Establishment at Suntec Level 2 to get it...

And then in the afternoon, Enigma MSN-ed me to tel lme he got the CD for me...as a xmas gift..
Gosh, so coincidental..I sort of rejected his gift...
I said "Since you like Il Divo too, why don't you keep it for yourself?"

And then he said "C'est impoli pour refuser un cadeau"...
Which translates to "It's impolite to refuse a gift..."

Sigh, and so...I had to go back to Music Establishment to exchange the CD for another one.

I ended up with Andrea Bocelli's Incanto.
His latest Italian opera album...Haven't quite listened to it yet...but I'm apprehensive about it lol...

=========
Music Esatablishment is cool..way cool....
Do visit the store if you have the time.

Great collection of classic CDs...lots of focus on the non-mainstrem music...which I like...
Lots of jazz, oldies, opera, orchestras, choirs, bossa nova...yada yada...
But prices are abit high though..

They also carry the whole High Society series...which has...
Very very chic packaging..
Very very good collection of songs...
And very very expensive prices lol.....

But I might go back there to look see look see again..hehe..
Uber cool place!

Sticky Sticky

I finally popped by Kristin's shop just now...
Lovely space at the basement of Central.....very near one of the MRT exits...

Do visit the shop if you can..:) It's called Sticky.
It's a sweets shop...and they make the sweets right in front of you...

Jamie (Kris' husband) was busy making banana flavoured sweets together with one of their staff when me & ahboy visited them...heh, gave us some of the samples to munch on..quite interesting..

But it was a little embarrassing when she passed me a pack of sweets which cost $8.90...and refused to take any $$ from me...wah lau, it was really abit paiseh...haha..

For those interested, they do corporate gifts and wedding favours as well...

Guys & Us

I told Chloe this morning that I did a little analysis on my own.

No empirical evidence or anything, just pure plain old observation on my own part.
Observation of her, of myself, of some of my other girl friends who get along well with guys and people in general.

Chloe & I get along good with people. We both have a fair amount of close guy friends, perhaps more than girl friends even? And I think for the most part, guys do find it easy to talk to us.

So the perenial question is how come and why?

Perhaps it’s due to the fact that we’re good listeners and we’re chin chye easy-going peeps?

She said, “We’re non-judgemental..” Hmm…I agree. Maybe...maybe to a certain extent haha…

We are frank when the situation calls for it and we don’t dawdle too much with them. Perhaps it’s also because we’re also more liberal…and our minds are open and accepting.

The above traits are what I term as male character attributes....So maybe that’s why they find it easier to talk to us about various things under the sun? Be it crapping or serious confidential stuff hahaha…

Wish I had a sociologist or psychologist as a friend...Then maybe he/she can shed some light on this...haha

Lol…I’ve neglected my work..Ok, I shall go back to work right now…;p

Blossom Under Repression

Chloe: I realise you’re really liberal
Me: Har???

That statement from Chloe just popped up out of the blue lol…a little flashing orange box at the bottom of my laptop screen…
It caught me off guard but I must say it gave me a very enjoyable respite in the dull lull of the afternoon. A little piece of bright shiny light in the dreary afternoon ahhaha….

Hahahahhaa…and so the conversation ensued.
About how we’re liberal and accepting for the most part. If some of our friends knew about some of our details…they might be seeing us in a very very different light?

I asked her. How come we’re liberal?

Especially when her dad and my dad were in the teaching profession. My dad was a strict discipline teacher in his school. Hers was a strict Chinese teacher. We both come from conservative strict families with naggy protective parents…so….how come we end up being liberal souls? Lol…

And then voila.…*lightbulb shines*

We came to a conclusion….

Bottomline is....

I think we blossomed under repression.

(Yeah babe? Haha…your fav quote of the day “Blossom under repression”…:D)

Yeah I guess sometimes, certain intentions end up producing counter effects lol…Perhas the equation works this way:

Strict/Conservative genes from Dad + Strict/Conservative genes from Mum = Liberal Daughter

==========
Oh babe I just love talking to you!!!
I can be as open as I want!!! Hahahhaa…

6 Degrees of Blondeness

From one of those mass emails...Enjoy...

=========

FIRST DEGREE

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The wife (undoubtedly blonde), picked up the phone, listened a moment and said 'How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!' and hung up. The husband said, 'Who was that?' The wife said, 'I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear.'

SECOND DEGREE

Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, 'Hmm, this person looks familiar.' The second blondesays, 'Here, let me see!' So the first blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the mirror and says, 'You dummy, it's me!'

THIRD DEGREE

A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment > unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. > Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. > She takes the gun and puts it to her head. The boyfriend yells, 'No, honey, don't do it!!!' > The blonde replies, 'Shut up, you're next!'

FOURTH DEGREE

A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, 'Go ahead, and ask me, I know all of them.' A friend says, 'OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin ?' The blonde replies, 'Oh, that's easy: W.'

FIFTH DEGREE

What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant? 'Is it mine?'

SIXTH DEGREE

Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burgled. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby was the first to respond. As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, 'I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman.'

Honkalicious

Thre I was...a sweet young thing, standing on the roadside, by the kerb...
Hair billowing in the wind...Picture perfect...
Feeling contented that it's the end of the work day...
A little smile plastered to my face...
Yeah, feeling like I can conquer the world...anytime, anyday...
And then...

*HONK HONK*

wah lau. which idiot. ignore.

*HONK HONK HONK*

wah lau. xiao. traffic is at a snarl, honk also no use right?? xiao.

*HONK HONK HONK HONK*

And now I hear a voice..."ooi!!"

I look down to see a blue car...with the front passenger window rolled halfway down

Wah lau chey!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celia was in the car lol....!!!
Going to fetch her lao-gong home...
Her lao-gong works in the same office as I am..different floor only hahahhahaha
And I was just thinking of her the other day, wondering how she is...lol....

Life catches you at funny moments doesn't it?
