Horoscope

I am the seasoned traveller
Of the Labyrinth.
The genius of alacrity,
Wizard of the impossible.
My brilliance is yet unmatched
In its originality.
My heart is filled with potent magic
That could cast a hundred spells.
I am put together
For mine own pleasure.

I am the Monkey.

============
Lest you think the above was written by me.
I can assure you. It's not. Pulled it off from some obscure webby.

============
The Year Ahead..
A difficult year as the Monkey's plans go awry and people break their promises to him. He may suffer losses in his investments and should not lend money to anyone. A year in which he will discover who his real friends are. Disappointments will make him realize where and how he went wrong.

Monkey and Dragon
One of the best unions. Mutual love and understanding of each other. Very strong affinity in love and business relations. Prosperous and successful team.

Wahey! CNY!!
But it's quite a boring half a day so far..collected a few ang pows..other than that..lotsa time spent waiting for relatives to come...zzz...

Was chatting with JM last night..hehe..and came to some interesting revelations about myself..
He said I was quite "gal"..and I went like "huh??"
So I quizzed him about it. Turned out that what he meant was that he felt I was "gu niang"... Hmm..."xiao jie" was a term he used to describe me too.
Guess he ain't seen the crude side of me yet aye?
*hiak hiak*

Oh yah, said I was vulnerable too...the kind that needs protection from others...
And that I should use it to my advantage in work..haha..said that it'll be easier for me to seek favours from other peeps.

Hmm..interesting.

...Back to waiting...*yawnz*
Think I shall go do some office work...

F*ck

Win & I came to a conclusion last week.
One of our New Year Resolutions for 2006 has unceremoniously ground to a halt.

Within just two weeks into 2006, our rebellious tongues have gone back to their expletive-uttering ways again. English, Hokkien, Chinese, you name it.

Nabei, just when I thought I could do it.

Acckkk..
*pouts*

CNY visiting...

Tomorrow's yet another day of false smiles and forced greetings.
To relatives whom you see only once a year and whom you'll prolly not recognise when you walk past them on the streets.
And whose names you don't even know cos you call them all either Uncle or Auntie.
Yeah, every single guy who walks in through the door and is your elder is termed as "Uncle". Likewise for the opposite sex.

For the younger folk, guess I don't even bother to remember which kid is whose child.
And I have to doubly admit, I don't bother knowing how the hell I'm even related to all these people.
Whether it's by name or by some distant blood lineage.
Ahh...Let it be..

I used to go out visiting with my parents. Think the last time I did that was like 4-5 years ago?
But ever since Granny has gotten older and has more difficulty handling drinks and all for the visitors, my role's been changed.
Bro & Dasao'll be out and I'll be at home helping Granny.

In a way, I don't mind this role reversal.
Cos I get to stay at home and not melt under the sweltering heat outside.
But aw man, I just hate those small talk sessions..where each party racks their brains so hard to come up with disinteresting topics.
And the awkwardness & tenseness when each has nothing better to say anymore...
At which point the host aka me, has to say, "Eat more! Drink more! Help yourselves!"
Granny's hearing is really bad now, so I'm the one who does the talking...

And it's the same few mundane anal questions every year..
Where are you working at?

What are you working as?
When are you getting married?
How old are you by the way?

Mom made a comment today.
"When your granny passes on, I don't think there will be anymore of such visits. I think we'll all lose contact with each other. Cos the only reason they'll visit is to show respect for your granny. "
Which I totally agree with.

PSY aka ...

Park Shin Yang.
The guy who acted as Han Qi Zhu in "Lovers in Paris"..aka, the elder brother..the one always in suits...
What a talented guy.

Dasao found his website and told me to go take a look..

Studied in Russia.
Studied film & drama for 10 years..fluent in English and Korea..and I suppose Russian as well.
Hockey player..furniture designer..
Good singer too...
Has even written 4 books.
Love the way he writes his poems in the site.

*swoons*

Can't believe he's 38 though..doesn't look like it..

tis a day to be marked in history!

Surprises are sweet...
*blink blink blink*

Met up with him at Bugis J around 5-plus today..
And the moment we met, he offered to carry my bag.
First reaction from me was a blank stare...well, if you consider that a reaction at all.
Next reaction after a momentary lapse was: "Har? You sure??"

Cos' it's the 1st time I ever heard that from him.
Let's not talk about shopping bags or plastic bags of stuff.
I'm talking about my handbag.
Hmm...quite big somemore haha...the boxy straw bag that's so common nowadays..

Haha, anyway which girl would reject such a kind gesture of offer?
Kinda cute to see him carry my bag.. =D

When I'm Gone - Eminem

Yeah...
It's my life...
My own words I guess...

Have you ever loved someone so much, you'd give an arm for?
Not the expression, no, literally give an arm for?
When they know they're your heart
And you know you were their armour
And you will destroy anyone who would try to harm 'her
But what happens when karma, turns right around and bites you?
And everything you stand for, turns on you to spite you?
What happens when you become the main source of her pain?
"Daddy look what I made", Dad's gotta go catch a plane
"Daddy where's Mommy? I can't find Mommy where is she?"
I don't know go play Hailie, baby, your Daddy's busy
Daddy's writing a song, this song ain't gonna write itself
I'll give you one underdog then you gotta swing by yourself
Then turn right around on that song and tell her you love her
And put hands on her mother, who's a spitting image of her
That's Slim Shady, yeah baby, Slim Shady's crazy
Shady made me, but tonight Shady's rocka-by-baby...

And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back
And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back...

I keep having this dream, I'm pushin' Hailie on the swing
She keeps screaming, she don't want me to sing
"You're making Mommy cry, why? Why is Mommy crying?"
Baby, Daddy ain't leaving no more,
"Daddy you're lying"You always say that, you always say this is the last time"
But you ain't leaving no more, Daddy you're mine"
She's piling boxes in front of the door trying to block it
"Daddy please, Daddy don't leave, Daddy - no stop it!"
Goes in her pocket, pulls out a tiny necklace locket
It's got a picture, "this'll keep you safe Daddy, take it withcha'"
I look up, it's just me standing in the mirror
These fuckin' walls must be talking, cuz man I can hear 'em
They're saying "You've got one more chance to do right" - and it's tonight
Now go out there and show that you love 'em before it's too late
And just as I go to walk out of my bedroom door
It's turns to a stage, they're gone, and this spotlight is on
And I'm singing...

And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back
And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back...

Sixty thousand people, all jumping out their seat
The curtain closes, they're throwing roses at my feet
I take a bow and thank you all for coming out
They're screaming so loud, I take one last look at the crowd
I glance down, I don't believe what I'm seeing
"Daddy it's me, help Mommy, her wrists are bleeding,"
But baby we're in Sweden, how did you get to Sweden?
"I followed you Daddy, you told me that you weren't leavin'
"You lied to me Dad, and now you make Mommy sad"
And I bought you this coin, it says 'Number One Dad'
"That's all I wanted, I just want to give you this coin"
I get the point - fine, me and Mommy are going"
But baby wait, "it's too late Dad, you made the choice
"Now go out there and show 'em that you love 'em more than us"
That's what they want, they want you Marshall, they keep.. screamin' your name
It's no wonder you can't go to sleep, just take another pill
Yeah, I bet you you will.
You rap about it, yeah, word, k-keep it real
I hear applause, all this time I couldn't see
How could it be, that the curtain is closing on me
I turn around, find a gun on the ground, cock it
Put it to my brain and scream "die Shady" and pop it
The sky darkens, my life flashes, the plane that I was supposed to be on crashes and burns to ashes
That's when I wake up, alarm clock's ringin', there's birds singin'
It's Spring and Hailie's outside swinging,
I walk right up to Kim and kiss her
Tell her I miss her, Hailie just smiles and winks at her little sister
Almost as if to say..

And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back
And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing,
So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back...

I like his songs.
Lyrics are always interesting...

eve of eve of cny

Went for the 2nd opinion today @ far-out NUH.
Sounds more promising. At least I'm given an alternative.
Am gonna go on medication first..combi of anti-reflux and steroids..
Before deciding whether to go for op or not..Hope the med works out well.. =)

Had to do a scope today again..man the procedure is uncomfy...ugh..
Imagine having a long tubing of width 3-4mm wide being pushed through your nostril all the way down your throat.
And you have to make funny noises so that the doc can see your vocal cords..haa

Hmm..now I've to pop 10 pills every morning for the next 5 days and then about 4 for the next 9 days after that.
*bleah*

=========
After NUH, made my way to Bugis J & got myself stationeries & my Malay dictionary!
Visited the temple after that...
And then parked myself @ Breko..woohoo...shiok!
Had my fav potato with egg mayo filling!! And the Orangey drink thingy with milk!! (forgot the name liao..) =)))
Did work there..did some planning for work, did my Malay homework too...

Quite satisfied..spent a good 2.5 to 3 hours there..
In my fav seat, at my fav table..

==========
Saw YanDaoKia's advert in Mens Health whilst at Kinokuniya today..
Haha...good exposure for him...sms-ed him in evening..poor soul had to do it FOC

But hey, for this trade, gotta start out this way..after you get more exposure and after your portfolio grows fatter...
You can ask for more...Kudos ya..and jiayou!

the power of mp3

It feels nice plugging your ears with jazz..
And just digging into your work.
Blocking out whatever's happening around you.
Kinda feels surreal.

Especially when the jazz is from the Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis era..
Wah steady...

Not really in the mood for work just now...couldn't get up this morning.
Came into office at 1040am..Think my performance appraisal's gonna be big time shitty..haha

okok...*meek little lamb skips back to work*

Would you feel sad?

If you gave a person a pressie, and that person lost that pressie...would you feel sad?
If that person doesn't understand why you are getting upset over the loss of the pressie, would you feel sad?
If that person lost that pressie cos it wasn't taken care of properly, would you feel sad?

quotable quotes

Got these off someone else's site. Much apologies for just lifting it off from there.

"Sometimes we must get hurt in order to grow, we must fail in order to know. Sometimes our vision clears only after our eyes are washed away with tears."

In a way...you never try, you never know. You won't know if the path ahead is clear or not till you start walking. If there's a wall and you walk right into it, and get bruised or battered...Well..take your time to laugh, cry, sing about it..Shit happens to everyone I guess.

Though I really wonder why some people seem to have it better off than others. Their life is smoother...yeah sure they do get shit..but they get it lesser...hmm..or can such things be compared?

"Not all scars show, not all wounds heal, somtimes you can't always see the pain someone feels."

I spoke of 'masking' previously and how I would like to be able to grasp it.
Let's just say my face is easy to read like a book. Happy, sad, pissed, bored. It's all there.
And sometimes, unknowingly, I offend/irritate someone with my blatantness.
Well, it'll perhaps be good to learn how to mask some of my emotions..?

On a separate note, there are some persons whom I sense have such wounds which have not healed fully. Gut feel I suppose. And I feel I wanna know more. Not like I'm 38 or anything..but rather I would like to hear what they have to say and learn from their experiences...

"After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, With the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.
You learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So, plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure... that you really are strong, and you really do have worth."

And this last one is quite interesting and meaningful.

My Wednesday

Lemme see..what happened today.

The presentation for the monthly staff meeting went smoothly.
Smoked through some portions. Gabra-ed through some portions.
But generally went okay.

Not bad siah, rushed through the slides and managed to pull it off..heee...

===========
Am going NUH on Friday. 2nd opinion.
Hope to hear something more positive..like perhaps the op won't be needed?
*clasps hands together and prays fervently*

Which reminds me..it's been quite awhile since I've visited the temple.
Yeah, think I'll do so on Friday.
After NUH, then makan, then temple, then Malay/GMAT/Stephen King at National Library!
Then maybe dinner with some peeps?

Woohoo...=)
Potent combination of activities for the eve of the eve of CNY...
Better get my MP3 fully charged...

===========
Time flies. It's been 2 months since I started taking Malay.
Just had the 8th lesson today.
2 more and I'm done with Beginners.
Hmm...just when I was getting to know the rest..

===========
Fuzz or no fuzz, that is the question....
hmm...hehehe..... =p =p =p

Yesterday

Yesterday ended on a not so good note..
Left the office around 8-plus and decided on a half-hearted state of mind that I should pop by Bugis to jalan abit.
Thought it would bring my spirits higher...think it went the other way.

Loitered around aimlessly and really just walked..
Gosh, didn't buy anything at all.
Things I wanted either had no colour or ran out of size. >:(

And to top it off, I couldn't get a cab. Ok..I can hear some tsk-tsking...but I'm a cab-queen remember? And i figured it'll get me home faster.
BUT.........
Waited, no cab, called, couldn't get through. Got through, no cab..and so the cycle went..
I ended up taking the train eventually. Back to square 1.

And I'm not exaggerating but I had a headache after frowning for so long...

mungka orang atas macham nak kena sepak

For those wondering.
That means. Orang Atas has a kiam-pah face.

And for those still wondering.
Kiam-pah means "want to get slapped".

Got quite pissed off this morning.
By someone with a low EQ. Let's call her Orang Atas...
She's smart, she's capable...I agree.
But sometimes rubs people the wrong way...

And well, just a simple email this morning from her rubbed me absolutely the wrong way.
So much so that I gave up in replying. And pushed the duty of clarification to another person.
Nevermind that I seem like an incompetent fool after her words had gotten the better of me.
Guess I've learnt to just keep my mouth shut in such instances where I can't defend myself confidently.
No use running into a brick wall.
I am not good in such war of words.
What more against a more experienced player?

In a way, I pity the peeps at CC1.
And admire their tolerance and patience too.
Apart from getting it from the callers, they get it from us too.
True that they need to provide a certain level of service to us.
But really...sometimes, it's a "cut-each-other-some-slack" situation...
You help me, I help you.

Or perhaps I'm just a really chin chye person...
And some others just aren't.
Or maybe our 8 characters clash...

spaced-out thoughts..

Got up earlier this morning to be an assistant sous chef..haha...
Was helping Mum & Dad in our annual mega-project..
The cooking of Ayam Buah Keluak.
Just thinking of the dish makes my taste buds excited..

Anyway, one wonder's why cooking Peranakan dishes is so time-consuming and takes up so much effort...
Just to cook this dish of 50 black nuts..Dad had to crack them open, I had to enlarge the hole..
And then dig out the flesh, mix it with fish paste..then stuff it back in..
And the spice paste has to be done for gravy..yada yada...

And ya, buah keluak always reminds me of Uncle Benny..

=========
Bought another cross-stitch that day..haha..
Hmm...700th day is the goal...
Aye..gotta have something to work towards...

=========
Tien Phey just messaged me to say that he transferred $$ into my account.
Gosh, then I realised I'd already forgotten that I lent him that sum of $$ 2 years back.
I know I didn't write it off. just that perhaps it kinda slipped from my mind along the way..

2 years..I remember lending to him when I was only in my 2nd month at LHUB.

=========
And yay! Got my increment!!
Muahaha...

Though that niggling feeling of whether to move on or not is still floating around consciously in my head.
Haa..can't remember who but someone told me to follow in HB's footsteps and go into teaching..
A notion which I am still adamant about.
I don't think I'll go into it lah...don't really have much affinity with kids..=)

The pig in the schizo me decided to be more dominant today..
After completing the final episode of Lovers in Paris, I zonked out..for almost 4 hours.
Got up not too long ago...and I'm still sleepy..
Haa..

The thought of heading back to work tomorrow brings a slight dread and a certain sense of boredom.
It's been especially so for the last few weeks.

Hope I can work out the rental deal though. At least I'll feel happier bringing in some $$ for the company. Might be a small amount..but at least it's still revenue..

Was quite surprised that Dasao and Adrian made that comment yesterday at mama's bday celebration..

Hmm..then again nah..GMAT is heavy..will leave that for another day..haha..

~friday~

It's nice to end the day on a good note.

Had another uni gang gathering just now..just talking..
Time flies..7 years ago that I met them..and never knew they would end up making up a large part of my life..=)

Ate at Nooch and then ended up at Bakers Inn munching on desserts...

=========
Back at home, as I stare at the pics of my scan/scope...
I think to myself..am I making a big fuss?
But I really hope that it'll not affect my intended trip...sighzz

=========
Was very happy too when a gf of mine shared that her guy has popped the question to her..whilst they were holidaying overseas. So sweet...hee...Somehow when I heard the news, I was just elated..and excited for them!

And it's funny..cos I just mentioned to ahboy that day that how come no one I'm close to is getting married? Or has the intention to? And then suddenly, the news came...

=) cheers man cheers...

Damn, been eating alot again.
I think a large bulk of my expenses are on food..argh...think next month, grass'll be my staple diet..

it's a slow TGIF morning...

Kinda feel abit defeated..deflated..sombre..
I dunno what is the correct word to use...

Am back in the office after a visit to ENT.
Most likely, need to go for another op again.
First reaction was: What the fuck?!?! Gan Puah Suay!?!?!??
Just gotten over one and now there's another? Got so zun bo?

Got a growth in my throat..
Doc mentioned that during my stay in ICU previously, the tubing in my throat most likely caused a laceration/ulcer in my voicebox.
And over time, it didn't get well.
And then, through infection/inflammation, it developed into a growth.

Sigh..what more can I say?

Felt kinda shitty just now when I first heard the news.
Feeling better now though...
After talking to him and doing some work...

A sweet young thing walked onto a "pirate" ship.
Haha..albeit willingly.
And followed suit when it set sail slowly towards the horizon.

Day after day, rain or shine, the ship sailed on.
Rocky weather, stormy sea, sunny days and chirpy skies,
She sailed together with it.
Bow to stern, starboard to portside, red to green,
That ship held many nooks and crannies which she loved to explore.
Till this day.

In fact, she's finding that the longer she's staying onboard,
The more she feels at home.
And home is where the heart is.

============
20th month, 611th day today.
Happy anni... =D

my wednesday morning...

Thought I'd just pen down how my morning started.

#1 Breakfast
Simple and satisfying. Brought a grin to my sleepy face.
Valley Chef's chicken sausage wrapped in Gardenia's hotdog bun..with fresh crisp lettuce thrown in and Del Monte's tomato sauce lathered over the it and the sausa...
*yum yum*

Gulped down a bottle of Chicken Essence before going out.

#2 The Spittle Auntie
Was walking towards the bus-stop when I saw this auntie, in her fifties maybe, walking ahead of me.
Quite suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, turned her head to one side, sucked in a huge breath complete with a gurgling sound and then launched a missile of spit onto the grass patch next to her.

And I just happened to pass by her when that missile was launched..
Not bad..it went quite far..sounds abit gross but I couldn't help noticing how the blob of goo went damn high up in the air in an arc before reaching its peak and then starting its descent.

And when I turned to look at her, she still had a silken thread of spittle dribbling and hanging from her lower lip.
Which she then wiped off on the cuff of her sleeve. Kaozz...

Anyways..haha..come to think of it now..
Abit disgusting.

#3 Crunchy Crunchy
After the auntie, I continued on my journey to my bus-stop...
And then I stepped on something which felt crunchy so I looked down.
And to my horror..I was actually stepping on an amassed pile of carcasses!
Carcasses of semi-flattened big brown roaches!

God-damn grossed out, gave a little shriek and strated wiping the sole of my shoe on a grass patch...(which led me thinking of the spittle auntie again...)

Wonder who's so boliao as to collect a pile of dead roaches and leave it there...or maybe a stray cat did that?

romanticism

Just thought it'd be nice to hear some sweet words.
To warm the heart and soothe the soul.
I've never requested for such a thing from you.
Simply cos I know what the outcome would be.
I don't know which gust of wind blew over me and prompted me to ask you.
But I just did. And I was right.
I knew what the outcome would be.

Sigh..am I really such a sucker for romance? hmm...
Practicality and rationality.
But yes, women need to cajoled at times.
No matter how strong and independent they are.
A dose of romanticism could do no harm.
No, no harm at all.

and I dedicate this to...

One conclusion was reached today..
*drumroll.....*
~We are both suckers~...haha...

Suckers for romance.
Suckers for bad boys with good hearts.
Suckers for rock chick Avril Lavigne & the way she makes us feel liberated.
Suckers for music (though I think I lose to you big time).
Suckers for food.
Suckers for being paranoid.
Suckers for sweet-talk?
Suckers for acting like silly infatuated schoolgirls? haa..
Suckers for...yada yada...

And yes yes, you know who you are!
So don't you dare deny yah!
Hahahha...

Feels nice talking to you & thanks for the listening ear always.
You never fail to amuse me man....and never fail to amuse me with the amount of coincidences we've had at times too..
Though it's difficult keeping up a conversation with a "pee-inducing" person...muahahha =p

blogging in office feels weird...but who cares? haha..

~Honest Compliments are the Fine Desserts in Life~

Super love this phrase.
This came up during a virtual chat with Kel. haha...=)

And well..am learning the art of anger management from him..the guru of calmness and composure..
Think I need more than a few tips from him..

It's been 3 months and 6 days already..
And yay! Been released from my food restriction..
Prawnies, crabbies and other seafoodies...HERE I COME!! muahaha... =D

========
Had lunch with this special special person who never fails to make me smile even if my day has gone horribly wrong....*smiles*
Met Sky by coincidence too..was seated when we suddenly spotted him crossing the road...

========
My throat's getting worse again..
Sometimes can feel the strain..kinda like as if I'm forcing my voice to come out..
Hmm..should I go ENT Centre for check-up?

========
Sibei xian...dun wanna work...
Was a PA yesterday. Made receipt claims for Jen, had to go buy lunch for MK..
Today, had to help Siva go take photos for her class...

It's no wonder why the flexibility of my brain synapses is slowly being compromised..
They are so not used...

Sat & Sun

Let's see...What did I do on Saturday and Sunday..

Saturday..hmm..woke at 12-plus..somehow very tired..then went to nap again at 3pm...till 5pm..haha...disgusting I know..

Brought him to makan Peranakan food for dinner..hhaa...bawan kepeting, ikan garam assam, ikan otak, and nonya chap chye was what I ordered...the food was not bad lah...
Though I would have loved it even better if I could order buah keluak too...pity he doesn't know how to take it haa..

Then popped by Chinatown..walked the streets there and got squashed with the throngs of people there.
I think almost half of the chinese population in SG was there that night...cos the weather was fine after a few days of rain..
But the stalls were mainly the same lah..all selling the same stuff. Candies, waxed meat, cheap clotes, CNY decorative stuff, earrings...blah blah..

Usually, I would have cursed at squeezing with so many people..and being hot n sticky...
But I surprised myself. I actually enjoyed it.
Think it was cos the weather was okay, quite cooling cos of the past few days of rain. Didn't feel that sticky..

Sunday.
Nothing much..watched lotsa DVDs though..Lovers in Paris.. =)

Angst

Over-protectiveness vs Over-bearingness vs Well-meaningness...

Wrote something about this on 6th November. 2 months after that day, I'm venting my frustrations again.
Got into an argument this morn with mum, about travelling. Getting tired of being tied down. It's not that I don't understand where she is coming from. But hey, cut me some slack. Think I'll go bonkers soon if this keeps up.

Was teary on the train, sniffing away. Darn, and those tears did fall but only when I reached office. Managed to control...sigh, why do I like to cry so much? Or is that the only way I find is the easiest to vent my emotions? Happy?..cry..Sad?...cry..Angry?..cry..

Am vexed. People had better not step on my tail today.
Else I'll chew their ears off.
Grrrr...

nonchalance part II

I ask myself.
Why am I up at this hour of the night...?
I tell myself it's cos I'm blogging & that I'm chatting on MSN...
Or is it that I am waiting for a msg from you..just to know you're safe at home?
Cos I had no idea where you'd been...
Remember I gave up guessing?
Cos I admit, I am a sourpuss when I don't get my guesses correct.
And besides, I feel a certain sense of mockery.
Ah well...as per my previous entry.
Nonchalance at times is food for the soul.

nonchalance part I

I will be happy.
I will be strong.
I will be nonchalant.

Interesting topic which somehow came up in our MSN chat this afternoon. Yes, gal?
Alongside, my fav mantras of "Happy can liao." & "It's just a matter of choice."

Nonchalant = seeming to be coolly unconcerned or indifferent & marked by blithe unconcern.
Guess I try to be nonchalant at times. But some thoughts just nibble at the heartstrings and refuse to let up...so it's a "to-no-avail" situation.

Should I put in more effort to be nonchalant?
No lah hor? Shouldn't force-fit myself into a mould which ain't my size.

Then again, nonchalance has its advantages...
It delineates you from the possibility of hurt...cos it stops the mind from caring too much and imagining too much...
Am I making sense here at all? Hope so.

2nd TGIF of 2006

Spent a nice simple evening with Dan, Sky & YL..
Had dinner at Hot Stones...haha had a fun time trying to cook my chicken skewers on the hotplate..
Had some incidences of where the oil "splashed" onto my hands..but well..it's all in the name of fun..taste-wise, I thought it was pretty okay..though Dan didn't think so..haa..

It was nice seeing Sky again..think the last time I saw him was at least 6 months ago..or maybe more...=)

Was walking around Clarke Quay after dinner but coudln't decide on a place to plonk ourselves at so we ended up at Rochester Park, in this pub called One Rochester.
Located somewhere in Buona Vista, quite near the MOE building.
Nice place, cool concept..kinda like another Wine Network or another Villa Bali.

And...hehehe...wheeeee!!! Had a Screwdriver today...=p =p...long time no drink, thought I'd order something safe...
Their wine prices are abit on the steep side though..waiters are a fun bunch..though there's a lot of posers there.

And somehow along the line, we ended up at Fong Sing..haa...munched on prata and started reminiscing on hostel days...
Gosh..come to think of it, it's been at lest 2 years since I last stepped foot on NTU grounds.
Seems like so long ago...
Oh yah, met Apple there...the guy...the auditor...

And you know, it's really nice to just hang & chill & nuah with a few other close friends on a Friday night. Talking about general things or sometimes just not talking at all, just basking in each other's company...

Looking forward to the next gathering. Our CNY reunion dinner...though there are differing views on date n venue..haha...now it's up to the small head!!

so fragile...

Was gonna rush out of my house this morning when I caught a glimpse of the front page of ST.
Saw this happy young couple and something made me stop and read.
The headline didn't even catch my eye...it was the pic. Something very poignant about it.

Read the article and my heart sank..
Avid sky-diver falls to his death in Australia when both his main parachute and reserve parachute fail to operate.
They both jumped out together from the plane, hand-in-hand...but landed differently.

It's heartbreaking. Really heartbreaking.
Can't imagine what she must have felt then when she saw his body; what she must be feeling now when he's gone; what she must be feeling to have lost him just like that; what she must have felt to have not even had the chance to say good bye.

They were staying together for at least 2 years already...must have been planning for the future.
And now, he's left her. Just like that.

The fragility of life.
You never know when it'll hit you.
Was thinking about it still when I was on the train to work. Whilst watching rivulets of rain snaking down the windows of the train. Whilst listening to Tao Zhe on my neeon.

My heart goes out to her. Really.
Hope she's got the support of her friends and loved ones.

And I suppose it's true. How you should let your loved ones know you care.
Cos you never know when they might leave you.

Yet another brain freeze day...so cold...

Had a simple date just now.
Haha...went to the National Library...it's been open for more than half a year and we both have not even stepped foot in there.
Anyway, the place was huge..stacks and stacks of books.
Pity only the basement floor was "borrowable" books...the rest of at least 7 floors were all reference books.

Visited the Admiral Cheng Ho exhibition too..took some pics with my mobile..
But something happened, somehow couldn't download the pics into my comp..
Will try again another day and load the pics here...

==========
Dan's taking his GMAT tomorrow...
Having lunch with him after that...
Best of luck pal...

==========
Ok, the washing machine's beeping liao.
Time to hang up the laundry...
With the weather like that..wonder how long will it take to dry???

mid-week liaozzz

Was reading crowey's blog and realised one thing she said which I found to be totally amusing...
My immediate reaction was to just laugh out loud.
She wrote this sentence whilst describing me.

"She is, like me, a lot naughtier than you'd think."

Haha...and needless to say to each other, think we both know what that entails... =p

==========
Stupid red biscuit is going overseas AGAIN.
Going Langkawi with mao, seng, biru n shujun.
Darn it.
No Fair...*sulks*

==========
It's scary or rather...disgusting...
The things SIM says to lian in office...if you misconstrue it or think of it in more ways than one..it can actually translate to sexual harrassment...hmm..

Calling her "doll" and all...*bleah*
Somehow alot of the guys are hitting on her..haa..

========
Borrowed this from Reddie's blog which I found to be voila..a tad bit touching...
He was talking about The One. And how do we know if someone's The One...?

"I love you, i know you are somewhere out there, and if i were to find you, i will bring you joy and laughter everyday. I will keep you warm on a rainy day, cuddle with you and share a hot cup of coffee and hug you close."

And you know what?
I share the same sentiments...
Which I oh-so wanna do right now...to no avail...
Cos at this point in time..he's in Marine Parade and I'm in Tampines.

i am incorrigible

I am incorrigible.
Cos I got up at 7am today...and then promptly plopped back onto the furrows of my bed and scurried back into dreamland..
Awoke with a shock at 8am.
Wishing I could take leave..if not for a meeting I had later in the day..which by the way, turned out to be a super redundant meeting. Tmd.

I am incorrigible.
Cos I am happily blogging during working hours.
Muahaha....

I am incorrigible.
Cos I am happily MSN-ing during working hours..
*evil grinz*

Cry Me a River

You were my sun
You were my earth
But you didn't know all the ways I loved you, no
So you took a chance
And made other plans
But I bet you didn't think that they would come crashing down, no

You don't have to say, what you did,
I already know, I found out from him
Now there's just no chance, for you and me, there'll never be
And don't it make you sad about it
You told me you loved me

Why did you leave me, all alone
Now you tell me you need me
When you call me, on the phone
Girl I refuse, you must have me confused
With some other guy
Your bridges were burned, and now it's your turn
To cry, cry me a river
Cry me a river-er
Cry me a river
Cry me a river-er, yea yea

I know that they say
That somethings are better left unsaid
It wasn't like you only talked to him and you know it
(Don't act like you don't know it)
All of these things people told meKeep messing with my head
(Messing with my head)
You should've picked honesty
Then you may not have blown it
(Yea..)

You don't have to say, what you did,
(Don't have to say, what you did)
I already know, I found out from him
(I already know, uh)
Now there's just no chance, for you and me, there'll never be
(No chance, you and me)
And don't it make you sad about it

You told me you loved me
Why did you leave me, all alone
(All alone)
Now you tell me you need me
When you call me, on the phone
(When you call me on the phone)
Girl I refuse, you must have me confused
With some other guy
(I'm not like them baby)
Your bridges were burned, and now it's your turn
(It's your turn)
To cry, cry me a river
(Go on and just)
Cry me a river-er
(Go on and just)
Cry me a river
(Baby go on and just)
Cry me a river-er, yea yea

Oh
(Oh)
The damage is done
So I guess I be leaving
Oh
(Oh)
The damage is done
So I guess I be leaving
Oh
(Oh)
The damage is done
So I guess I be leaving
Oh
(Oh)
The damage is done
So I guess I be... leaving

You don't have to say, what you did,
(Don't have to say, what you did)
I already know, I found out from him
(I already know, uh)
Now there's just no chance, for you and me, there'll never be
(No chance, you and me)
And don't it make you sad about it
Cry me a river

(Go on and just)
Cry me a river-er
(Baby go on and just)
Cry me a river
(You can go on and just)
Cry me a river-er, yea yea

Cry me a river
(Baby go on and just)
Cry me a river-er
(Go on and just)
Cry me a river
(Cause I've already cried)
Cry me a river-er, yea yea
(Ain't gonna cry no more, yea-yea)

Cry Me a River - Justin Timberlake

Just heard this song on radio...and it sounds so good...
With rain drizzling outside...and the air feeling so cold and chilly..
Just wish he could be here.

love...

Attended Shirley's wedding just now..
As usual, was feeling envious of the couple..=) And was feeling happy for them..guess I'm really a sucker for such stuff haa...
Their wedding album was really taken well. Video of the morn's activities was so-so though...abit cheesy..
Shirley looked really pretty tonight...love her hair..haha..kinda like stage dancer cheong queen...fiesty, zesty and hot!

Was quite surprised by the venue. Le Meridien..always had the impression that the place was sleazy..but I take back my words..
The moment I stepped into the ballroom, I was pleasantly surprised.
The place was very nicely done up..chandeliers, drapes, flowers and all..nothing sleazy at all.
Food-wise it was average...

Think most Chinese weddings in Singapore are of the same formula..the sequence of events are the same, the way the waiters enter for the first time with the first dish is the same...even the same songs are played during the dinner..
then there's the video chronicle-ling (is there such a word? I don't know how to spell...) how the couple met over the years, how they grew up..yada yada...

Though it's become so predictable, somehow I'm still a sucker for it...
And I find that I always look forward to those pics of how they first met and grew together as a couple over the years...Cos I'm a romantist at heart? I guess so...
Happy couples, couples in bliss, idealogies about love, fairytales..blah blah..they all just seem to melt my heart..

Found myself smiling when I was looking at them walk into the ballroom...

Cheers to all those couples out there who have found The One...
*smiles*

hey there..

Wish you could be here with me now.
Sipping a cup of coffee together,
Hearing the pitter patter of raindrops on the window...

Wish you could be hugging me tightly now.
And I could bury my head in the nook of your shoulder,
Hiding in the warmth of your embrace...

Wonder what you are doing now?
Missing you...

bitching

At times, I wonder how some people can bitch so much.
Occassional bitching and gossiping is okay cos in a way it adds spice to your life does it not?

But full-fledged bitching can be such a pain in the arse at times...
Non-stop rattling on every little thing, every person, every incident, every situation, every encounter....
I mean, doesn't that person get tired of complaining about every single thing every single day?

Wouldn't we be happier if we stop judging everything based on first impressions?

Hmm..i don't know...
But sometimes, by the end of my working day..my ears are ringing like crazy...
Thank god for mp3...

wet wet sunday...

Blinkymummy.
My new "idol". Haha...her grey matter simply oozes out more oomph and intelligence than the average person does.
Plus, she's super billingual..kaozz...Engrish and chinese both filly-felleh..

And I discovered that my grasp of the English lang has been on a downward spiral..TSK TSK.
I seriously need to brush up on it..

========
The brat in me feels compelled to complain again.

There's something wrong with my air-con. Wiring gona awry or something cos when I tried to turn it on just now, the electricity for the whole house tripped and everything was in pitch dark blackness.

Lucky it happened before Mum & Dad goes to Genting tomorrow.
But anyway, conclusion is that i can't use the air-con for the next one week...
TMD, I can't huddle under the comforter and pretend it's winter liao...

=========
Was watching Nat Geo a few days ago when there was a story on "Honour Killings", a phenomenon largely predominant in Pakistan.

It's a weird and horrifying culture. Totally demeaning.
Any woman who is seen together with another man, who is not her relative or husband, is deemed as highly immoral.
And this gives her husband or her male relatives the right to murder/kill her.

The documentary showed many cases of women being burnt to death just because their husbands said they had dishonoured them. Some were beaten, others were scalded and just left in a corner of the house with rotting wounds. There was this lady in her 8th month of pregnancy who had her eyes gouged out and nose and ears cut off. Luckily she survived and managed to deliver the baby.

Even if a woman is raped and she goes to the police but cannot prove that the guy really did rape her, she can be charged with adultery and jailed for life.

I mean, wtf? And these men claim that such acts are condoned by Islam and is stated in the Quran. According to the documentary, a check revealed that there is no such thing written explicitly in the Quran.

Many of these women are poor and illiterate. And when they get killed, their families are angry and bitter, but cannot do much about it either. It's a sad thing...

I feel safe here in SG man..

pitter patter

It's been raining the whole day.
Heavy rain, drizzles...rain falling straight down, rain falling sideways...
Rain with chilly gusts of wind...rain with no wind...
Pitter patter rain, gushing rain..
You name it.

And I think it was raining for the whole of last night too..
Hmm...kinda wonder how the clouds can hold so much water?
It's gonna be a dry dry spell after that perhaps..
Yay...Sentosa sounds goodd..=)
Been a long while since I've been there with Dan & the rest..

==========
Dinner just now was at Crystal Jade, the Taka branch..
Mom's treat to Uncle David & family, Ee-ma & Auntie Violet..and of course bro..ahboy was there oso...
Food was ok..nothing particulary fantastic but I must say the sharks' fin soup is simply great..

And yes, I'm not one to shun sharks' fin soup...
And muahah...can't believe it..Mum actually allowed me to drink red wine..my 1st taste of alcohol ever since 3 over months ago...wheee...though I would have preferred hard liquor instead of wine...

===========
It's uncanny...on those Saturdays when I want to sleep till late late late, CC1 just has to call me at 9am in the morning with a pressing problem.
Was cussing when I heard my mobile ring..checked the ID and it said "Withheld"...
Had to answer cos I knew it'd be CC1...
Turned out to be somehting I had to bother people with too cos I couldn't solve the problem...had to get the PE to call the customer back..

It's almost as if God is giving me a sign.."Eh, better wake up early so you can do more fruitful things!"

===========
Managed to compile my Malay notes into something with a remote semblance of order..haa..
Good lah, at least it gave me a chance to review and go through the notes again..

Tomorrow will be GMAT day..will try to go through some pages and see what it's about...

=========
Looking forward to Monday! Dinner with PQ & gang at Merchant Court..buffet..yum yum...salmon..yum yum yum... =))

And he's coming over to stay for the night! yay!

1st TGIF of 2006

Speaking to crowey aka purpleskies just brings a certain sense of calm to me...haa...
Well..maybe she makes me feel myself...hmm..I don't know how to put it...
I can be totally 100% myself? I can just talk about anything?
Maybe she makes me feel more sane? That at least, there's someone out there who shares similar paranoia and similar thoughts? haa...

Thanks gal..You make my day anytime man...=D
Book of Comfort..tried to fool me eh? ney ney ni boo boo! gotcha! haha...=p
And ya lah, will go change the music video...realised a while ago that the vid's been there too long..but lazy to go find another nice one...haha...

Never told you directly..but I am kinda happy for you and him.
That you two share something really special and that you've reached the point of knowing how he feels about you and that he's there for you.

==========
Just saw the pics of Kym & XL's Japan trip...
Me jealous big time!! Wonder when will I be able to travel like that? Sighz...
Japan's simply beautiful...what a blend of modern touches and traditional customs...
Scenery was so pretty!!

And kudos to them...Some of the pics they took were really great!
And hor..they look so sweet together! haa....small head: so when's he gonna pop the qn?

Me want travel too....me want me want!!!

==========

Wow...just got the news that a uni friend has just proposed to his gf, part of the uni gang too...that's nice...
Was just commenting to Dan that day that I'm waiting for someone from our clique to start the ball rolling..haha...
And then here the news comes... =)))

========
Argh...Did a rough stock-take just now cos my dressing table's drawer is getting too messy...

I've got like more than 20 pairs of earrings..and more than half of which I don't really wear...

Hmm..it's a waste to throw them..but have no idea how to keep them neatly and nicely as well..
And if I just keep them in boxes, I'm the kind who will tend to forget that it's there and end up not using it! Bleah...

I need a display rack...which can be stuck on my wall...then l can hang those earrings there..and my necklaces as well...

hmm...IKEA here I come!!
ya, hehe...maybe will drag him there next weekend...whee!!

==========
I could do with a bowl of hot soup now..
What a wet wet way to start the year...
It's still drizzling outside...and my fingers and toes are stiff from the cold...my toes especially..the tiles are so cold..haha...

Best thing to do now...
Is to huddle up tight under my comforter and snooze the night away...
Yeah....signing off...zzz....
