ack....zzz....hmm....ah....eh....errr.....zzzz....

password fatigue

There's so many IDs & passwords...

I have 4-5 sets of IDs & passwords to remember in my work..

And at least 2-3 of them require you to change passwords every 2-3 months or so...

zzz...I have an excel sheet at work to remember those...

And another one at home for me to remember my personal stuff...

sheesh

=============

Eyes blood shot now.

Darn, shouldn't have switched brand of eye-make-up remover.

Shall stick to Maybelline.

Went shopping just now alone. Felt good...And well, I think I was not my usual self...

I bought alot of things in a short period of time.

Hmm mm...

==============

Talking of not being my usual self...I am really blur these few days...

Taking MRT in the wrong direction.

Replying SMS but forgetting to send out.

Speaking in half-sentences.

Losing track of what people say mid-way through a discussion.

Maybe I'm tired...Hmm mm..

TUMMYACHE
Bleah... :(
Think I ate too much today. Haven't been eating too much for the past 3-4 days...
Suddenly felt hungry today so I munched on more stuff...
A bun for breakie.
A bowl of miso ramen and 4 small gyozas for lunch.
A packet of sweet potato fries for tea-break.
A bowl of prawn noodles and one siew mai for dinner.
Not much water during the day. But lots of it at night though cos I felt (and am still feeling) dehydrated.
Bloated now.

ROACH UPDATE
Mr Zhang Lang was no where to be seen last night.
And so far, he has disappeared without a trace.
No one knows if he's dead or alive.
But we have a happy citizen here....:)

Disappointed

It's frustrating when someone leaves.
With the promise of "Oh I'll definitely help you out. Just give me a call".

Yah, what the ...? Don't make promises that you can't keep.

Seems like you're avoiding us at all costs? SMS no reply. Call also no reply. MSN no reply...
Hard delete everything from your PC.

Well done is all I can say. Well done.

To me, the least a person can do if he or she leaves....
Is to make life easier for the rest of the colleagues you're leaving behind...your ex-teammates..

Come on. If you want to leave, leave on a good note. Leave on a high note.
Leave with more I don't know what's the right word to use. Dignity?
Doing such things just makes you seem so......petty??

*Sigh*
Sex And the City

Tried getting other places but all good seats have been sold out at the 8-9 plus time slot...
No choice but to go to Tiong Bahru instead...
But what the heck??!!

Wheeeee!!!!!!
*excited*

SISSSSSSTIC

I find that I have been a regular customer of SISTIC this year...

Hmm...
1. Jay Chou Concert (Jan)
2. DimSum Dollies (Feb)
3. MayDay Concert (Apr)
4. Broadway Beng (May)

And the lastest addition to the list....

5. Late Nite at Esplanade - Hossan Leong (Jun)

muahahaa...yay!!
Gonna watch Hossan in action again!!

oh bugger...!!!!

and a real big bug that is...

*cries*

I'm terrorised. By a bloody big flying cockroach.
It's one thing to be terrorised by a cockroach. A normal one running around on the floor.
It's another thing to have a flying one in your own room.

My perfect sanctuary is now shared with a pest.

It appeared last night. This stupid creature of about 7cm in length. Brownish red.
Wingspan about..10cm wing tip to wingtip...then again...I was busy ducking whenever it flew....so I can't really tell..

Bloody hell. I was on the PC last night when it appeared...It had the whole airspace of my room...
And it made full use of it..ceiling to wall to ceiling to wall to ceiling....you get the drift.
I was armed with a can of baygon, a balled up newspaper and another wad of newspaper which acted as a swatter and well....a shield of sorts too.

I tried hitting it. To no avail.
There was a point towards the end of our battle when it flew to a rest right on top of my curtain. Balanced precariously on the top of the cloth.
Oh...my beautiful curtain...marred by this speck of utter nuisance.

I tlooked like it was mocking me.
And I swear to god. If it had a voice...I think it would have been mocking me in a high-pitched shrilly voice..."come and get meeeee!!!!! You cannot catch meeeeee!!!!!"

On top of the curtain...It faced me...
And then shook its body and walked regally behind the curtain as if to say "Told you so...you cannot catch meeee!!!!"
Darn the bugger.

And then it took a peek over the curtain!! Wah lau eh!
Its feelers waved many "hellos" to me. I returned its friendliness with a gesture from my 3rd finger.
Oh well, it doesn't pay to be too courteous sometimes.

After a final wave, it then hid from my view. The window was open...I shook the curtain.
Nothing happened. I shook it again. No roach came buzzing out.
And I thought sordidly to myself "Yay. Battle won."

I thought it flew out of the curtain last night. Into the vast nightness out there...
But alas I was so wrong...

Now. Almost 24 hours later. The bloody fella appeared again.

*WARCRY*

But oh well, the battle just ended. With that fella disappearing into the dark crevices in between the top of my cupboard and the ceiling.
After it disappeared inside..I sprayed that whole area with Baygon.
Hopefully it's concussing in there now. And hopefully it'll die in there.

Growl. It's a bit scary to sleep in my room.
But I refuse to sleep in my parents' room cos of this intruder.

And this has to happen when the parents aren't around..They're away in Macau.
This time it's really a damsel in utter distress........

I told ahboy about this intruder...
I even pictured him as my knight...storming into my room, grabbing my wad of newspaper from my hands and smacking the twitter into a smashy pulp. He'd be my hero...

But then again. My fantasy bubble burst unceremoniously when he said...
"Eeeee...I'm scared of flying cockroaches too...!!"

Great.
So it's all up to me, myself & I.

It's a draw for now. I dare not assume a victory again.
I shall lie low & wait.

Be gone with you
You...you...grrrrr....

"I'll crrrruussshhh yoouuuuu!!!!"

Hmm mm....

Met up with a HongKonger in the KL meeting. Knew him from previous meetings already so we were seated near each other during dinner.

Interesting observation he made.

He asked if I was from local uni. And I said, “How’d you know?”

“Well, you speak with quite a lot of ‘lahs’ and ‘lors’…That’s Singlish right?”

“oh…really? I speak like that? Sheesh…..”
And in the meantime, in my heart, I was thinking…oh shit…do I really sound like that? Bleah…ok, I shall make a conscious effort to edit my English in my head before it spews out of my mouth…

And then came another observation from the same guy…

“Hmm, let me guess, you’re from NTU right?”

“Ya!! How’d you know???!!” Ok I admit, my voice did go up a notch or two. But bear in mind ah, you don’t get foreigners knowing your own local issues so well…in fact, perhaps better than some of your own local folks even…

“Well, let me just say that I think NTU graduates are more humble than those from NUS. Somehow you can tell the difference…”, came his reply.

Hmm..interesting observation points…
Did some own comparisons based on the above 2 points….was thinking through my own circle of friends…

Well, there might be some truth in these obervations…
Hmm mm…

Will leave it in there till Sunday when I'm back from KL..

Oh yah, am leaving tomorrow afternoon...zzz...
But at least I'm taking a flight up there...would be more zzzzzz if it were a long 3-4 hours coach ride up there haha...

Les MSN-ed me just now...said he was abit bored there liao.. ahha..He's been there since the 17th Saturday....
And he's waiting for me to go Chinatown together... lol...oh yah, and the twin towers...lol..

There's some work that needs to be done...
Bleah..haven't had to motivation to get it settled once and for all as you can tell....I think...I shall leave it till tomorrow...

Sleep is more important for now.
Adieu everyone...

The Glitz of Ritz

Spent Sunday night in Ritz Carlton...25th floor.
In a room with a great view of the ECP, the Marina area, and well, parts of Conrad, Suntec & the other buildings around there...

Room was big...bathtub was nice...with a "ba gua' shaped huge window right next to it...
Feels nice bathing and looking out at ECP and the area nearby...lol. I mean come on!!
I think that's prolly the only time I would have had a chance to do something like that!! haha..

The breakfast selection was not wide but it was definitely nice. Most of the stuff I tried was good.
Oh, and they served my favourite smoked salmon...voila...heaven...
Lots of fresh crisp romaine lettuce at the salad bar with a whole bowl of pine nuts & walnuts...
Think I went berserk at the salad bar...hiakzz

The Char Kway Teow was good and Siew Mai was nice...The Grilled Tomatoes with cheese was juicy enough! And the Cheese Sausages were mighty succulent for the tastebuds!
I didn't take the Bak Kut Teh though. Cheena herbs = no no for me.
Surprisingly, the congee they served was disappointing...more like porridge...too watery.

One would ask, Oh! Ritz Carlton? How's the service there? Must have been excellent?

Hmm...the service was good enough. Needless to say.
However, it sort of irked me after awhile. Call me mad or what. But sometimes I'd rather have that little bit more peace and privacy. :)

Was sitting at the lobby waiting for the man to settle the check-in procedures.
In that span of less than 10 minutes. I was approached by 3 different lady staff.
Each asked if I needed anything. Each asked if I needed help or a drink.
And I gave each a polite enough "No, Thank You" to which they scuttled away in their little black pumps, black suits & bunned up hair...

We went to the lift..there were 3-4 guy attendants milling about...at least 2 rushed to us to ask which floor we wanted to go to.

Sheesh.....talk about job creation. Maybe instead of awarding the "Job Creation Award" tribute to Philip Yeo...they might have awarded it to someone from the hospitality industry...

Oh, did I mention they had a whole plate of strawberries coated in both brown & milk chocolate?
I didn't realise it...but strawberries really taste good with choc...yum...perfection..

Looking forward to the weekend

I guess time passes faster when you're laden with work.
And encapsulated within a bustling office.

Oh well, maybe not that bustling. Half bustling. Cos the other half of the folks are less busy perhaps.

Ended the day with an almost shitty meeting.

===========
Need a break...
Was thinking of going away alone...dunno.

4 days spent in Bintan alone sounds not very appealing.
4 days in HK? 3 days in Sentosa?
Hmm....

Don't know what gibberish I'm spouting also now haha

===========
Pat Choo added me on Facebook...

That goondu woman..disappeared for more than half a year....
And then when she finally pops up, she's a Mrs Tan already.

SMS-ed her and she didn't reply me...=(

===========
The bank account feels happier today...

HR fed it...And it feels less hungry..

Good~! :)

===========
Hooked on sweet potato fries...sprinkled with sour plum powder...

It's the rage amongst the 4 of us now...Les, HC, Jane & me..
haha...

But abit fattening lah...cos deep-fried...

Bought 2 packets home just now for mum & dad to try...wah lau...
The mum was hooked onto it...she finished 1.5 pkts...I finished 0.3 of a packet on my way home...
And poor Dad finished the remaining 0.2 of a packet. haha.

Some Weird Entertainment...

Short clip collating some weird Guiness Book of Record Holders...

Scrabble!

Oh yah...Friday was the Scrabble Competition...
I enjoyed the game though it was only for a short hour and despite the many delays in getting the game started.

I won the table of 4. Against representatives from the Blue, Black and Green.
Hee, glad to have been able to add some points to the Red Team...:)

But hor...
I still miss the competitions back in school.. haha..

Scrabbulous is my only fix now....I think I can spend a whole day just playing it online... haha

Papa Choy's bday!

Was out with the Ahboy's family for dinner just now...to celebrate Papa Choy's birthday...

Venue?

Jumbo Seafood at Kallang...

Nice. Not too crowded...and food was good.

Scallop encased in Mini Yam Rings (This was nice...!)
Fried Baby Kai Lan in Light Oyster Sauce & Garlic (This was good tooo!!)
Stir-Fried Beef
Chilli Crab
Hong Kong Fried Mee
Oat Meal Pranws (This was really goooooood)

Ok, now you know why my MSN nick says "TOO MUCH FOOD!!"

And as usual haha...6 of us crammed into one Mazda 3...and zipped back to Marine Parade...
Dropped them off and then Ahboy sent me back...

What a heavy heavy meal to start the week.. ahha ;p

Family Excursion

Yesterday was really a logistical nightmare. Haha. Bringing Gran to True Blue Cuisine and then to the Peranakan Museum seems like an excursion to be done only once in a long while cos of the effort it takes.. ahha
Talks to coordinate time & date & venue started close to 1.5 weeks ago.

Was out at 10-plus yesterday morning just to go fetch Gran from the Home.

From getting her changed to her outside clothes, to getting her in the wheelchair, to bringing her downstairs and then getting up from the wheelchair and into the car...

Mum was a little grumpy, nagged at Dad. Dad got a little frumpy too. Gran was well...neutral, just huffing from the effort of moving from bed to wheelchair to car. And I was trying to be chirpy.

Reached the place and darn, no carpark. "Unloaded" Gran...had to hold her cos there were two steps...car to wheelchair...then into restaurant...

Got into restaurant and they had to shift tables & chairs for us to create space for her...
Needless to say, waiters & waitresses were deployed...people were staring...and um, yah, it felt a little uncomfortable.

In the meantime, Dad went to park the car but got lost and ended up in Orchard...wah lau....u-turned back and got Adrian to park the car for him instead.....

Finally settled down as a whole family...Dad, Mum, Gran, Adrian, Dasao, Marc, Me & Ahboy....ordered lotsa dishes...Pomelo Sald with Edible Orchid flowers, Ayam Buah Keluak, Fish in Tamarind Sauce, Egg Omellet with Pepper Leaves, Crab Meatball Soup with Bamboo Shoot, Itek Sio, Ngor Hiang, Chap Chye and Longan Red Date Tea.......signature Peranakan dishes...

Slurped, munched, gobbled and finally finished the meal.....then the Grand Dame she wanted to go to the loo...

Shit, lots of commotion again. Moved Gran from chair to wheelchair....And well, a wheelchair is not a small item...
Patrons chairs were inched closer to their tables, "sorrys" coming from me & mum, "it's oks" coming back from the patrons..Had to manoeveur to the loo. Thankfully the loo was spacious enough to accomodate the whole wheelchair...

Ok, so finally settled the meal, and off we went to the Museum...Lots of space, there was a lift...so all was well...
Not sur eif she enjoyed the trip there...But she sure did like pointing out things which she was all too familiar with...

"Hey, I used to have that piece of crockery!!"
"I know how to make that type of kebaya hanging on the wall!"
"I know how to make those beaded shoes!!"
"My Mum had that kueh-kueh mould last time!!"
"That is called the Tempat Sireh! We used to have it at home last time but I threw it away!"

"Hey! That thing..."
"Ah! This thing..."
"Oh yah...That thing..."

I take it she enjoyed herself somewhat....

Brought her back to the Home by 3pm.....Nurses helped to change her back to the Home's uniform...
And off she went....to her deep afternoon nap...or should I call it sleep instead cos she was shacked out haha...

I don't know how many more Mothers' Days will she enjoy...
But me & Adrian will endeavour to make each one a lasting one in her mind.....

Broadway Beng

Saturday night was spent at the Drama Centre at the National Library.

Ahboy and I were there to watch Broadway Beng (BB). And well, Ahboy was pretty much the Ah Beng..loose T-shirt, loose jeans...and um, black rubber flip flops...
But granted that he manages to look good in that ensemble...
Ok, I correct my setnence above...make that a good-looking Ah Beng...haha..

The show provided good laughs..some slapstick moments but it was also a little disappointing.
Or perhaps I went with too high an expectation.
It simply didn't match up to Dim Sum Dollies (DSD) in terms of the quality of jokes and well, the quality of singing & acting of the back-up singers.

Some of the jokes were funny but forgettable...
Some of DSD's jokes were still ringing in my ears close to 2 weeks after ther show...Um, BB's jokes were almost forgotten within a day...lol. AND...DSD had a trump card...They had Hossan Leong with them.. haha.

But I must say, Sebastian Tan is a wonderfully talented guy as well.
He spoke fluent Mandarin, fluent Hokkien and fluent English...is this considered tri-lingual? :)

From acting as the ubiquitous Beng, he was also Maria from the Sound of Music, Michael Jackson the performer, Elton John, blah blah blah...

He sings pretty well...and his Hokkien songs were surprisingly good!! His rendition of "Ai Pia Jia Eh Yia" was good! The crowd sang along with him hahaa...

If the next BB comes along..I may or may not catch it again...
But the next DSD will definitely find me a par tof the audience...

And if Hossan Leong's "Singapore Boy" comes up again in the future....
He will DEFINITELY have me as an avid spectator....
*hee*

Mummys' Day

Ok, I hope Sunday turns out to be a success...

It will definitely be a logistical nightmare...and I hope it will be well worth it.

Adrian & I am organising a Mothers' Day luncheon at True Blue Restaurant.
It's an authentic Peranakan restaurant that used to be situated in Katong. But has now shifted to being just 2 doors away from the Peranakan Museum.

So well you guessed it. We're gonna hop over to the Museum after that.

And it will be a logistical nightmare because...

1. Adrian & Mei & Marc wil be hading there on their own in a cab. Even though they're just 5 mins away from our place (and technically we can fetch them there).

2. Dad, Mum & me will be heading to Chai Chee to fetch Gran from the Home. And we'll need to rent the wheelchair from them.

3. Dad has not driven in the town area for umpteen years and is highly apprehensive about driving there. So I'll need to be the guide. And I am only perhaps 90% sure haha.

4. We'll have to make our way from the carpark to the restaurant....wheeling Gran along.

5. Idea is for Adrian & family to reach the restaurant first so that they can order first. And when the Grand Dame arrives, the food would have been just served and she would not have to wait too long for food to come.

6. Ahboy will be going to the lunch on his own. So need to coordinate timing...

7. After lunch, the real test comes. Maneuvering the wheelchair within the Museum itself..Play by ear and see how it goes......

It will be my 2nd time there at the Peranakan Museum in a week.
But well, i am glad that what I envisioned and hoped for turned out to be in the midst of being fulfilled liao....

It actually feels good that the idea is working out beautifully...My idea.
Now for the execution..

oh my Wednesday liao...

Wu Yue Tian has been playing on my MP3 over the past few days...
Them & Stephanie Sun...

Wonderful tempos, wonderful voices, wonderful music...

It's been lovely journeys home everyday after work.. haha.

=============
Popped by Shokudo for dinner just now.

Kinda ex. Food portions not very big.

And well kinda salty.

Will I go back again?

So-So. Maybe if someone asks me there.

But I won't initiate going back there.

=============
Scrabble competition on Friday afternoon.

Sibei excited!!!

It's been ages since I've competed for Scrabble.

The last time was like 6-7 years ago..!

*rubs hands together*

Can't wait!!!! Haaa...

=============
My hair is really getting very very long...

Hmm...haven't quite had the time to go for a cut.

The back's below my bra strap liao...almost reaching my lower back......

=============
Itchy backside me.

Still awake at 1155pm.

Have not bathed yet also.

Ever since I got home at 10-plus...Was doing some toning exercises to Wu Yue Tian's music in thebackground...

Ok ok, I better go bathe.

p/s: time to control my diet a little...been eating too much....

Me

The current state of me.

There's a...
Thick green vein running from the middle of the back of my left hand, to the base of my left thumb and then all the way up to the middle of my forearm.
Throbbing, pulsating.
A small branch of veins broke away from this main one and so now there's another group of veins spiralling around my wrist and then running up my forearm...
This just seems so err...manly.

There's a...
Pimple on my left temple. Which simply refuses to go away.
And now, a twin has sprouted adjacent to it.
The guys in office are scaring me. They said I'm breeding pimples.
*rolls eyes*

There's an...
Exceedingly large number of white head, black heads, enlarged oil glands on my face.
Oh bugger.
And my facial lady's gone to give birth. Only available in end May.

There's a...
Weird phenomenon happening on the skin of my tummy.
Seems like I'm breeding moles too. Little black or brown spots here and there.
Or is this a result of too much tanning back when I was in uni?

There's extra callouses on both my feet. The toes especially. Both on and below them.
The toes look like slightly mutated now. Plus my bunions.
I have ugly feet.

Ahhh...the perils of growing older....

But oh well, I find myself laughing more on a daily basis.
Smiling more on a daily basis.
Being more productive on a daily basis.

Sure, I have my down days. I have my frustrated days. I have my angry days.
And well, I have my sad days. Who doesn't?
But on the whole...

I feel happier.

I think the job change has done me good.
I think the environment has done me good generally...

Voila.
We're 5 months into 2008 already. And it feels like as if we just celebrated the New Year.

Here's to better and greater things to come for the rest of the year!!!

Ganbatte! Jiayou!

trivial bits

Mr Bull is heading to the Maldives in end May.
Business trip...and he'll be extending for a few days I think.

Wah Lau!!!

*envy* *jealous* *drolls*

Maldives leh!!

I wanna go toooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sun, the sand & the seaaaa!!!

============
I bought a resistance rope. Have I mentioned it before?
Don't think so right?...hmm mm..

Anyway, time to do some stretching & toning everyday now...
Butt, thighs, arms!!

============
Abit over-whelmed at work now.

Don't have time to focus on my projects.

When every 30mins or so I get interrupted by operational issues or some admin or finance thing which needs my endorsement...

Wonder how the bosses cope man...

============
Been a long while since I did shopping...

Feel like taking a day or two off just to sleep at home or do some shopping.

Looking at the schedules...The only possible dates seem to be in early June...

============
Was fighting with Mr Bull on the escalator just now haha...
Wah lau, if I really have a blue-black, I'm so gonna screw him tmr!!!

============
I think I am really not a morning person.

Had a bloody headache since morning. Which lasted till about 5-plus or 6pm...

And now, I am perfectly fine...I am tired but I don't feel like sleeping.
In fact, I feel like exercising...wah lau..

My clock's screwed up man..

Peranakan Museum

Went to the Peranakan Museum yesterday.

It's an excellent effort by the authorities and the rest of the folks who made this Museum happen.

Hope to be able to bring Granny there.

Just a matter of when.

And how I'm supposed to manoeveur the wheelchair.

Oh darn. I need to first borrow a wheelchair.

Argh.

======
There were some old letters on display. Written on the Peranakan patois.

Am mighty proud to be able to read and understand them. HeeHee.

There were young children around. Really glad that they are immersed int he culture already.

At least efforts are made not to let the culture die off.

Bravo to those who have made the museum a success.

It was an interactive experience. From the visual to the audio experience to the touch & feel areas.

I hope the museum gets its fair share of visitors from both locals & foreigners alike.

Maybe I'm in his good books? hee...

Going to see granny tomorrow and then head down to the Peranakan Museum...looking forward to it!!! Can't bring her there. So I'm bringing my camera along. Hope to be able to get some nice shots for her to see next week.
